Now open on the fringes of the Marais is the spectacular new Parisian municipal centre for contemporary music and all things digital. The 19th century Theatre de La Gaîté Lyrique has been gutted and rewired bang up to date.

The ethos is very much digital power to people and the slickly designed new media space will be hosting pioneering performances, digital happenings, and visits from creatives passing through Paris. Already on the programme is the Super Mon Amour indie festival in April, featuring Jose Gonzalez, Deerhunter, Dan Deacon, Lower Dens, Architecture In Helsinki and VINGT favourites Baths.

It’s a box of hi tech tricks and the reworked venue holds not only concert hall, auditorium and galleries, but also artist, film and music production studios, “sound spaces”, media centre, gaming area, two cafes, and even a boutique. Expect French touches of digital chic of the highest order.
