If the only old thing you own is your resident Sugar Daddy, you’ll love this mecca for all things modern. Created by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers back in the 70’s, its starkly futuristic design played havoc with architectural buffs who marvelled at its exposed skeleton of multi-coloured tubes, representing the building’s different functions – green for plumbing, yellow for electrics etc. It’s now home to the Musée National d’Art Moderne (including over 60,000 works from 1905 to the present day), and the Bibliothèque Kandinsky, hosting up to thirty public exhibitions every year as well as cinema and documentary screenings, conferences and symposiums, concerts, dance and educational activities. Make sure to linger in the forecourt, known as the Place Georges Pompidou, where street performers, miniature carnivals, and evening dining options pop-up come Spring.
