With the amount of design shops on the circuit proffering quirky souvenirs and unusual trinkets to take up precious sideboard space at home, it’s useful to have one which at least claims to ‘edit’ the vast range of objects down. So say Pylones, who after 25 years in the business of bumf (ok ok, we like a knick-knack as much as the rest) have their selection down to a fine art.

Colour, colour and more colour is the immediate impression on entering, which lends itself well to the playful element suffused into the products, which range from the useful (egg timers and elephantine funnels) to the novelty (we all need a set of maracas and a rainbow bath duckie).

Everything sold here is produced in France, so you won’t run into the usual Alessi onslaught either, and actually stand a good chance of coming away with something truly unique. But word to the wise – they actually have branches around the world including locations in London, New York and Hong Kong, so choose carefully before gift-wrapping your ‘Parisian’ souvenirs.
