It’s no coincidence that Boco sounds just like bocaux, the French word for jars: From starters to desserts, everything comes in jars here, pre-packaged and ready to be reheated or bagged to-go.

Not that we’d usually recommend a places that serves ready-made meals, but an exception just might be warranted when the ingredients are all organic and the recipes come from a roster of Michelin-starred chefs. How often do you get to enjoy repices from food virtuosos such as Anne-Sophie Pic, Jean Michel Lorain and Christophe Michalak?

Dishes have been specifically prepared for reheating or to be consumed refrigerated and most are excellent, particularly the desserts, and it’ll end up costing you little more than a trip to McDo. The Opéra outlet is comfortable enough to eat in (bottles of wine available from around 15 euros) but why not order take-away for a gourmet picnic in the nearby Tuileries gardens?
