Drinks and Italian food is a combination that has worked wonders for Julien Cohen at Grazie, his hip pizza joint-slash-cocktail bar in the 3rd, and one that’s being deployed again here at the very bobo Professore in SoPi. And while the restaurant itself is so-so and overpriced, the cosy cocktail lounge Gocce in the back is a little gem.

Julien’s brought over Oscar Quagliarini from Grazie to create the menu of drinks that seems to involve as much alchemy as mixology when being prepared. There’s a choice of flower and spice creations, reinterpreted classics, or one of the perfumi drinks that come in fragranced glasses for the full sensatory experience. At 13 euros a pop, you’ll want to savour it.

The place is homely, if you’re the kind of person who has a living room library at home: old rugs on the floors, frayed picture frames on the walls and plush armchairs to sit back in. It gets busy for after-work drinks but isn’t quite what you’d call a party place. On the upside, it’s one of the few places in neo-bobo territory where you can get a comfy seat.
