The oldest and, some would say, best of the Momofuku bunch, David Chang’s first-born has a penchant for pork. The chain includes the teensy Ko which seats 12 and where the chef is also your server, the rather excellent dessert-centric Milk Bar, the Asian-centric burrito bar Ssäm, and the Frenchified Vietnamese eatery Má Pêche, but we continue to favour literally pigging out at the original Noodle Bar.

Here they serve up the richest stock, farm-fresh toppings and some of the most succulent, shredded and braised pork belly over ramen noodles in town. The steamed buns have also gained cult status but if bacon’s not your bag, then book ahead for the decadent (yet still finger-lickin’ good) fried chicken dinner which serves four and includes two whole chickens, done Korean and Southern style.

Late-night diners will appreciate the noodles which keep on coming ‘til 2am over the weekend, sometimes with a poached egg split over your chopsticks right in front of your eyes. At that hour, that might be enough to make you feel like the ‘lucky peach’ that the Momofuku name refers to (so no, it’s not an insult to any mother).
