Hours Call ahead

The notoriously slam-packed party that used to share ‘club row’ with the likes of Bungalow 8, Bed and Home, is back. And claiming to have grown out of the former Jersey Shore, sex-on-the-banquettes, sparklers-in-bottles brouhaha of times past.

Now housed in the former Bon Soir basement club, where Barbra Streisand famously gave her first performance, this Pink Elephant is a smaller, more intimate affair, with a decibel level that should allow interaction beyond having a stranger’s tongue shoved down your gullet.

But, as they say, an elephant never forgets, and this one certainly hasn’t ditched its clubbing legacy to disappear into a Fantasia-like mist entirely. Split into the mirror-clad ‘Infinity Room’, a labyrinthine mixology space, and a cabaret lounge, the place swiftly transitions into a heaving nightclub, packing the circular dance floor.

Calling the crowd hip would be a stretch but hit the club on a night where the bridge-and-tunnel contingent isn’t, and it’s as fun as a straight joint gets in Manhattan. With room for a mere 200 partiers, calling ahead to book one of the 20 tables is a mighty good idea.
