New Yorkers are never at home. And chances are, if you’re coming to the Big Apple, you may not be spending a lot of time in your new home-away-from-home either. Maybe all you need is a clean, comfortable place to sleep at night.

This 200-room “micro-hotel”, a former single-occupancy residence renovated by Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (nightlife big-wigs known for hot spots such as The Waverly Inn, The Maritime, and Bowery Bar), offers rooms with AC, telephone, flat screen TV with cable, along with fresh linens and towels.

The “micro” part refers to the rooms, which really are tiny. Full-length wall mirrors add an illusion of size but bathrooms and showers are shared (they are kept in pristine conditions). Think of it more as booking a private bed space than an actual room. Unless, of course, you upgrade to the larger Captain’s Cabin – and a very different price.

The Jane Hotel also features a fabulous lounge bar, and an English-style pub for all-hours drinking adjacent to the lobby, as well as an outpost of NoLita’s legendary Café Gitane whose river views and black-and-white tiled floors make a perfect setting for a weekend brunch or lunch if you’re in the hood.
