Throw ‘lah’ onto the end of any word or sentence and you’ve got yourself some ready-made Asiatic slang. Got it-lah? Now, armed with this alphabetical advice, head to a new Madrid mash-up of South East Asian flavours; a veritable culture shock of cuisines that travels the length and breadth of the continent.

Start off with a little something from Vietnam’s Mekong River or a Thai Siam salad, before tucking into Lumpia (spring rolls) from the Philippines or a little Singaporean dumpling. Mains include Indonesia’s famed Nasi Goreng, satay from Cambodia to Malaysia, and assorted curries, noodles and rice dishes.

And to reflect this mixture of menus, the space is refreshingly cluttered – a change from the sycophantic Zen scene – which looks like a bustling street market with its bird cages, hat-like lamps, Buddhist bells and giant wooden partitions. Even the seats look like straightened up roll-away Thai reclining mats you probably last sprawled over this summer. The only thing missing is a massage and a mai tai. Bliss-lah.
