Named after the rather sleepy town on the arid plains of La Mancha, on Friday nights the Cuenca Club also captures the essence of the kind of good-natured, provincial fun that you’d find there – albeit with a not so subtle ironic hipster twist.

Produced and hosted by Spanish net-celebrity Andrés Borque aka DJ Niño Fixo, the weekly night brings out the local cool kids – a gay and hetero-friendly crowd mostly in their early twenties – with a guilty pleasures soundtrack of golden oldies, Disney showtune sing-alongs and classic dance hits, if Britney and Katy Perry can be considered classics already.

Guest DJs include local trash culture icons and reality TV stars that you probably haven’t – or shouldn’t have – heard of unless you live here. It ain’t classy but great fun if you like partying with the young ones.
