Update: Super Pizza has now closed but Danger of Death remains open below. Hungry souls now have another reason to flock to this stretch of Brick Lane, with great pizza slices – the fig and goat cheese is particularly recommended – as well as antipasti selections and well-decent coffee now being served up here at Super Pizza, just across from the legendary 24-hour Brick Lane Beigel Bake.

The cosy, candlelit pizza joint is part of Milk & Honey’s Rushmore Group but, unlike the nearby Pizza East from the Soho House group, there’s little to suggest that it’s owned by a fancy members club. Slightly grubby, service is minimal (order and pay at the bar), and, though comfortable, only the high concentration of skinny jeans and interesting haircuts gives away its hotspot status.

Beer and wine is available but, for serious drinking, make friends with a member or bribe the staff to gain access to Danger of Death, the Rushmore members-only bar in the basement (access code needed for the door panel). Masquerading near the bathrooms as an electrical cupboard (hence the name), once you’ve scammed your way in, you’ll find the standard Milk & Honey formula of great cocktails and dim lighting that’s so bad for the eyes and liver but good for a friendly tête-à-tête.
