Stoke Newington? Dusty suburban hotbed of arty, lefty lesbians, right? Well, the gentrification juggernaut that transformed Shoreditch from a dodgy dump into hipster hell didn’t stop at Dalston and has continued its march north. But unlike the arrival of Sainsbury’s, nobody’s complaining about the newfound presence of Original Sin.

Put that down to the quality of the drinks – if these were the temptation, no wonder Adam transgressed – that are being prepared at this welcoming cocktail joint. Or put it down to the handsome decor, the comfy leather booths and the free pool table at the back. Or maybe it’s just that even our Sapphic sisters were yearning for a decent hangout in Lesville.

It has the same owners as Happiness Forgets, the popular cocktail bar in Hoxton, and it’s equally dedicated to the art of mixology and tasty tipples. This place is just much larger and, although much sleeker, also more laid back, lively and fun with a mixed crowd. No reservations are needed here and if you get hungry, grease up with a burger break at upstairs neighbours Stokey Bears. Suburbia might not be so bad.
