If you like flying in budget style (and don’t think that’s an oxymoron), then you’ll love landing here, too. Tune, which just happens to be Air Asia’s accommodation offer and already is a hotel fixture throughout Malaysia and Indonesia, has opened its very first European outpost in London.

As with the airline, everything has to be ordered extra online, from towels (£1.50) handed over in white paper bags at reception, to TV access (£3), safebox (£2), hairdryers (£2) and Wi-Fi (a very reasonable £3 for 24 hour pass). Room service? Non-existent (though vending machines are available). Gym? Sorry, but you could use the staircase – one of the few free amenities in the six-floor building.

Claustrophobics should stay away, especially from the the cupboard-like bathroom cubicles and the eleven rooms which don’t have windows, as the spaces are sci-fi tiny (their 8 square meters almost make Yotel feel spacious), though clean and functional (free of cluttering cupboards, chairs or tables) with comfortable beds. Predictably there’s also no brekkie service, but Costa, the local coffee-cup chain, is just downstairs. And with prices starting at a low-low £35, that’s a tune we’ll happily whistle to.
