Best known for their classic furniture design, the Danes actually excel across the breadth of industrial design. Kunstindustrimuseet, the Danish Museum of Art and Design, is the best place to sample these skills, encompassing a wide range of industrial design and decorative and applied arts.

The progression of and changes within Danish design aesthetics are documented via the work of designers like Poul Henningsen, Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen, as well as the way outside influences like Asiatic arts and other European industries have affected local tastes. Dress and textiles, drawings and posters are also represented.

Housed in one of Copenhagen’s loveliest rococo buildings, Grønnegården, the museum garden, is particularly beautiful and often hosts theatre performances in the summer.
