Inspired by the grand Parisian galleries, Denmark’s most prestigious and old-school department store, Magasin du Nord is the Harrods of Copenhagen, stocking everything from clothes and accessories to homewares and housing a handy gourmet food section, including the store’s very own chocolate factory – a supplier to the Danish royal court, no less.

Whilst the brand offering is centred around Scandinavian all-stars like Mads Nørgaard, Filippa K, and Bruuns Bazaar, there’s also enough international luxury to keep the label-whores interested. The interiors department has a great combination of classic Danish design from brands such as Holmegaard, Royal Copenhagen, Georg Jensen and Stelton, spiced with newer design from the likes of Normann Copenhagen and Muuto, and will keep your browsing through knick-knacks you never knew you needed for hours on end.

Note that a 10% discount is occasionally granted to any non-Danish resident, including other EU residents (different to the VAT Refund scheme that only applies to non-EU residents). Proof of residency may be required – inquire before paying.
