From the name you might expect homemade comfort food like your mother’s best at Mums, but it’s all about cocktails and contemporary European flavours at this trendy place in Pisserenden, Copenhagen’s central nightlife district.

In Danish mums means yummy rather than mummy although you may see quite a few yummy mummies here, especially mid-week. On weekends, however, Mums Bar & Kitchen is as hopping as you might imagine when one of the owners helped run TS Bar, the hip nearby members bar from Thomas Madvig, arguably Denmark’s top DJ. Loungey and Copenhagen cool.

However, the culinary efforts shouldn’t be sniffed at. Back in Copenhagen after training in London’s Soho, young chef Jacob Koch Nielsen has concocted the menu inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine and using locally sourced greens, resulting in dishes like duck with radicchio, pumpkin soup with lobster tails, and trout with scarmoza and potatoes. Yummy indeed.
