As the name would suggest, this small basement café is a indeed a very Gallic affair. Run by the trio of young Frenchmen who also own the nearby lunch place Voulez-Vous and bistro Mon Amour, it’s French you’ll hear and French you’ll be served. Heck, even the butter is from President; in the country of Lurpak, that’s close to heresy.

Located just off Strøget, Copenhagen’s pedestrianised shopping street, Frenchy has become a popular place to pop in for a croque monsieur and a café noisette during the week, a platter of charcuterie at night and a brunch à la française on the weekend.

The house special for brunch is satisfying – Maritza yogurt, soft-boiled egg, crépe, ham and cheese, jam and Nutella, croissant and bread – though smaller than it sounds. If you’re proper hungry, then you might be better off opting for the small breakfast of two eggs and a lunch dish for the same price.
