Anything from the owner of Crackers and Cookies Cream restaurant immediately gets a serious street-cred boost. So Chipps, whilst sounding like a foreign attempt at luring in British backpackers with their greasy home comforts, has been pulling in a hot young crowd from the onset with its irreverent take on ‘serious eating’.

Tucked away in a quieter corner of Mitte, meat comes as a side dish here and the main course is made up of various vegetable concoctions, from carb-alicious potato rosties, dumplings and rice rolls to beautiful plates of braised cucumbers with hummus, ratatouille with pine nuts, goats cheese gratin, and fried egg with white cabbage and spinach.

There’s a massive make-your-own list of salad ingredients to play with and, should it be too early for the rooty stuff, enjoy breakfasts including Sugar Daddy pancakes, Morning After omelette, Bed Head Benedict eggs, and a tomato-filled Walk of Shame, amongst others.

Eat at one of the soft grey tables indoors and watch the view from the wraparound windows, or take your feel-good food out onto the sunny terrace, and wash it all down with a chilled glass of wine.
