The Chalet nightclub may be located in Berlin’s Kreuzberg rather than Kitzbühel, but it still pulls in many of the dreadful piste-goers that we’ve come to expect in the more conceited parts of the Alps: Faux-poor hipsters, pretentious scenesters, insufferable label whores and kids who want to talk art are all present and correct.

However, it comes courtesy of the guys from the legendary Bar 25 – the ones who didn’t go on to start Kater Holzig and Kater Blau – and, as evidenced during fashion week, they also have the back catalogue of desirable contacts from that place on speed dial. So, even if the crowd is more hit-or-miss than you’d like, it’s about as good as it gets for a hetero joint.

The party line-up isn’t bad either, with events often running straight through the weekend, and the riverside location in a 150 year old, three-storey brick house is also a draw. Two dance floors keep things hopping indoors, while the beer garden has its own bar and plenty of space to dance outdoor when the weather permits. Not unlike a certain hut of times past down the river.
