‘Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest..?’ If you’re still waiting for an answer to that question you’ll have plenty of opportunity to ask again at this design-conscious hotel in Eixample, a shining gem of glassy white minimalism a short walk from the main shopping streets and the gay nightlife of Gayxample.

Reflective surfaces feature heavily everywhere to make the most of the narrow building, but while rooms at The Mirror Barcelona may not be the most charming, they are slick little outfits, reasonably priced, and many benefitting from their own little sun terrace with loungers (upgrade yourself to a Superior room for one guaranteed). The glass-fronted bathrooms may not be appreciated by sharing travellers, but the free Wi-Fi should.

Hotel facilities include a small rooftop pool and while there’s no gym, there’s a Michelin-starred restaurant to gain a little more buoyancy. Paco Perez cooks contemporary seafood in the eponymous eatery’s open kitchen, letting you explore a menu that includes the signature sucarrat rice and other goodies from the big blue. Excellent but pricey, a visit is likely to set you back more than what you spent on your room.
