Came out in a television interview in 1998 and three years later moved into City Hall, where he’s been ever since. A victim of gay hate crime – he was stabbed at the very first Parisian “White Night” in 2002 – he brought men in speedos – and sand –back to the capital’s quays with the introduction of urban beach Paris Plage.
