One of the new “New Wave” of French film directors, the openly gay Ozon is probably best known outside of France for “Swimming Pool” and “8 Women”, which includes a lesbian kiss (sharp intake of breath) between cinema icons Catherine Deneuve and Fanny Ardant. Since then, he’s made his first full English-language film, “Angel” starring Romola Garai and his latest film, “The Refuge”, won the Special Jury Prize at the 2009 San Sebastian film festival.
