The second of year’s grand slam tennis tournaments and the only one of clay. Plenty of drama for tennis fans this year where the biggest favourites aren’t the defending champions but the grinder with the bulging biceps, Nadal, and the Belgian comeback queen, Justine Henin.
Tickets need to applied for on the tournament’s website by mid-March, but if you missed that deadline, then you can still attend the tournament without bribing your hotel concierge. Ground passes are available on a first come, first serve basis in the morning, and cheap ‘visiteurs de soir’ evening tickets are sold in the afternoon for a few hours of tennis before sunset.
