If you don’t happen to be in Berlin and can’t check out the Helmut Newton Stiftung for yourself, this spring the Grand Palais in Paris isn’t a bad place to take a turn of the great photographer’s work; especially when it’s a full-whack retrospective curated by his wife.
Considering the vast amount of imagery he created for the likes of Vogue Paris, it doesn’t seem like an inappropriate choice either. Erotic, fetishistic studies of the female form promise to abound with over 200 images on display covering everything from Polaroids to archival releases through themes of fashion, nudes, portraits, sex and humour.
Not all about lust, these are powerful depictions of women which go beyond the fashion spread, with a special film by his wife created to really express the man, and artist, behind the name.
