Part of the achingly cool Hotel Costes empire, the slightly space-age design (conceived by French/New Zealand architects Dominique Jacob and Brendan McFarlane) puts on a suitable backdrop for the young and the hip to congregate come nightfall and look down their noses at Paris from the top floor of the Centre Pompidou. Hot serving staff may make for tastier morsels than the fusion cuisine on offer, but if you’re after something full-bodied to enjoy in peace, aim for an afternoon cup of coffee when the atmosphere is distinctly more relaxed. Reservations are required for dinner.
