Rude, haughty, and with service badly lacking, the media and fashion gay hangout de jour. It’s a place to go to nibble at a platter of charcuterie whilst secretly checking out the quality of the meat at the other tables.
The slightly tatty decor – from the plastic-covered banquettes to the frayed wallpaper, caramel-coloured from tobacco patina – is part of the attraction, the rough edges making up for the smooth-faced exfoliate-and-moisturise patrons. It serves up a becoming plat de jour at lunch during the week, but prime time is Saturday night’s DJ session and Sunday’s brunch.
