Looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in Paris can be a disappointing experience with watered down offerings adapted for fussy French tongues. More the reason why this taquería comes as a welcome relief for lovers of the simple shell, as it offers cheap and cheerful tacos, totopos and tostados with spicy salsas and soothing guac, in a place that’s as hip as it’s laidback.
But what would a Mexican fiesta be without a margarita? Whilst the front serves Jarritos sodas, aguas frescas and hibiscus water, push through an unmarked door by the kitchen after 6pm, and voilà: one of the cosiest drinking dens in Paris.
With bartenders from the Experimental Cocktail Club on hand to dish out aged rums, tequilas and mescal in suitably spicy concoctions, this place is like a Mexican mullet: all tacos and business in the front, party in the back. Arriba!
