Bling is the operational word at this opulent hotspot in Paris’s Golden Triangle. Equal parts restaurant and nightclub, both seem to have Russian oligarchs and flashy financiers as their target segments and there’s no shortage of hopeful, gold-digging model types ready to be charmed by somebody’s Black Amex.

Sure, it’s slightly garish, ultra straight and service can be haughty, but Yeels is still fascinating and it’s hard not to be impressed by the décor, especially the downstairs bar and completely OTT staircase. And even if you’re not a smoker, then you’ll want to visit the poptastic fumoir which has been given an Alec Monopoly makeover.

For a dose of swank and a fancy drink after dinner, it’s perfect. As for dinner itself, the food here is fine – a menu of show-off dishes like Wagyu beef, miso-marinated black cod and Pierre Hermé pastries – but with prices that assume that you’ve already landed a sugar daddy.
