It would be impossible to describe this hotel without mentioning its defining feature – a stunning vertical garden around which the rest of the building is set. Located in the centre of the Golden Triangle, this 19th century mansion is frequented by both business and tourist travellers, though the clientele are, no matter what their visiting intention, undoubtedly chic. The lobby is reached via a colourfully lit stone tunnel, and the 26 rooms are more organically appointed, favouring muted colours and quality fittings. The restaurant’s head chef comes from a Nobu pedigree, and the lounge is well-known amongst local hipsters for its top notch DJs.

Splendia

Behind an elegant 19th century façade, this hotel bears the former residence of the American general John Pershing. Its the first Parisian hotel of Andrée Putman, characterised by its crystal pearl cascades, an entrance that beams with changing lights, and a velvety parquet that invites to experience relaxation. The Pershing Hall is also a product of the small details that go unnoticed... personalised attention, subtle gestures, and individualised service converge... luxury incarnate in one unique establishment.

Mr & Mrs Smith

It’s for this designer hotel between the Champs-Elysees, the Avenue Montaigne and the Avenue George in Paris that the word ‘chic’ was invented. A dramatic, brightly coloured stone tunnel is a suitable segue into the lobby of a 19th-century mansion where whispers of the Second Empire are still apparent in the sweeping staircase, splendid wrought-iron balconies and arched doorways. Combining calm and serenity with understated luxury, each of the 26 rooms at Pershing Hall is a design-conscious romantic’s dream and the spa is the cherry on this sybaritic cake.

17.5 of 20. Fears of wacky design excess prove unwarranted, as this space is fastidiously minimal, and yet exceedingly elegant—much the same way a fashionable Parisian man or woman can extract maximum style from the most basic black ensemble. Frankly, it’s refreshing just to find a hotel in this city that’s not stuffed with reproductions of centuries-old antiques, but Pershing Hall goes beyond spare modern design into the realm of the artful.
