In the midst of the Marais, just a modern art work’s throw from the Pompidou Centre, Parisians have a new gay club. From the ashes of Le Scarron, Buzz rises and combines a pumping basement with civilised sound levels at street level.
The USP of the new club on the block is the pub atmosphere on ground level, which has music at conversational levels and will be showing the work of emerging artists on the walls. Downstairs, in an stonewalled arched cellar space, a state of the art-ish sound system blasts the dance floor ‘til dawn. The first floor houses the toilets, cloakrooms and the all important fumoir.
The name is a nod to the shaved head of a certain Tom of Finland. The nearby Café Cox – an institution of the local gay scene – is a magnet for the clones and Buzz has personal connections there. Expect Buzz to become the after scene for the older been there, seen it, still want to do it, Cox crowd which swarms the pavement terrace for Happy Hour nightly.
