The first menswear store for the original Antwerpian fashion meister of the casual-smooth has opened on the Left Bank, overlooking the Seine and the Louvre.
The clothes are the trademark Dries Van Noten casual chic, worn by those who effect an effortless suave. And befitting the cool look of the threads, the collection is showcased in a setting that pays homage to the previous art gallery occupants. The feel is like a stylised version of chez Sherlock Holmes with a whiff of opium den, earthy tones and Etruscan hues. Hardwood wall carvings are set against glossy terracotta walls in hi-sheen resin. Vases and ancient artefacts provide the backdrop.
This is dripping with hip and to enter this temple of modern cool you will need to buzz. But don’t be shy if you want to make the dashing choice for the dandy about town.
