Opened in 1893, Galeries Lafayette is probably the most famous and most expensive department store in Paris, going a long way to show that the French truly know their style. The grand architecture houses ten floors worth of fashion, accessories, cosmetics, homewares and food centred around a stunning glass Byzantine cupola. Menswear is located in a section called the Galfa, and includes all of the major designers as well as a good selection of up-and-coming names. The view of surrounding Paris from the roof terrace is second-to-none, whilst the gourmet food market is worth a visit for its selection of exotic and hard-to-find products.
