Should you want a break from the bright lights and boogie of Boystown, go guzzle in a very gay friendly way at La Trinquette. The buzzy, noisy mixed crowd is cool rather than hip and ready to embrace newcomers set on exploring gay Paris.
This new wine bar in the pulsing heart of the Marais is for the serious sommelier. Three likeable garçons from the Languedoc have scoured the cellars and vignobles of their home turf and brought a fine selection of wines to this sparsely but smartly appointed outlet.
Here one of the few new zinc bar tops to be seen in Paris acts as charming counterpoint to a ballon rouge of the finest red or a bottle shared amongst friends. Also on offer are hearty slate platters of charcuterie or cheese, or a mix of both. For the bigger appetite there is cassoulet.
