Having taken home the Village Voice ‘Best Queer Dance Party of 2011’ honours, you might expect a hot mass of writhing gym-toned bodies, glistening pecs bouncing to a pulsating house beat. Um, not quite.

There’s dancing alright, but more of the drunken, accidental kind, and this monthly ‘queer/all inclusive’ school nighter may feel more like crashing a dyke party – albeit of the friendly, men-welcome variety – than your standard homo ball.

However, the organiser trio of DJs Nath Ann Carrera and Savannah Knoop and visual artist Nica Ros deliver the goods with an interesting, progressive crowd, great tunes and some kick-ass projections. And keeping your shirt on, for once you can have your carbs and party, too.
