The Meatpacking District’s wide cobblestone streets are all about eating, drinking and shopping. The former butchering district also used to do a brisk business in prostitution, mostly plied by transsexual or gay men, but today the temptations are somewhat trendier than a butcher’s apron or a pair of size 11 heels. Hit up the designer boutiques sprinkled everywhere between Gansevoort and 14th, or walk down 14th Street itself, where Jeffrey and the new Apple Store bookend a row that includes Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg among its tenants.
