The Ace Hotel’s in-house restaurant finally opened for business after a much-hyped run up of previews and teasers. And coming from a Spotted Pig/John Dory pedigree, it’s hardly surprising diners were queueing to get in on what head chef April Bloomfield admits is a ‘meatcentric’ menu. If you like a pub-esque atmosphere with cosy corners, rustic parchment covered wooden tables and old fixtures and fittings such as a century-old ceiling and newly-polished flooring, well – you’ll love this. Cask ales are available at one of two bars, food includes chargrilled burgers, homemade sausages, and eccentricities such as stuffed pig’s foot, and whilst there are no reservations for the 130 odd covers, you can get hold of the chef’s table and indulge the family in a proper spit-roast suckling pig.
