If it wasn’t for the hip NoLita location, you might not be able to distinguish this Cuban-Mexican diner from your run-of-the-mill greasy spoon. More often than not there’s a wait, so put your name down, hustle for some space on the doorstop (you aren’t allowed to drink if you’re on the actual pavement) and pass the time downing a mojito or four from the bar. When you finally do get seated, go for the pressed Cuban sandwich piled high with roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and chipotle mayonnaise, along with the grilled corn on the cob covered with Parmesan cheese, then dusted with chili powder.
