Sparkle, Elmo, Sparkle! Chelsea’s (g)A(y)-list restaurant and lounge is surprisingly attitude-free for having this many pretty gays in one place. The dining room bursts with colour, vibrancy, and a relatively quick, efficient and always hot wait staff. Sporting the same capable owners as the brand new Industry Bar, and the long-running Barracuda, Elmo is the daytime place to see and be seen. Oh yeah, and to eat!
Their notable “comfort cuisine” is tasty and priced reasonably (a burger is just $7.95). Elmo is always busy, but it’s their brunch that brings all boys to their booths – with the savvy diner angling for a popular outdoor table. Like Cafeteria, another Chelsea staple two blocks down, it’s the ideal weekend location to watch the Seventh Avenue sidewalk parade strut by!
