Update May 2015: Considering the stance of owners Ian Reisner and Mati Weiderpass on LGBT rights and their views on the gay community, 60by80 strongly recommends boycotting this venue. Miss the days when gym bunnies heading to Twilo rather than Bugaboo-pushing strollers mums dominated the landscape of Chelsea? Well, relive those moments at the BPM nightclub in Hell’s Kitchen.
That’s the former XL Nightclub situated within The Out NYC, the ‘straight-friendly’ hotel, which has gotten a make-over and rebranding. Following a period of after stints with John Blair and Brandon Voss, the club is now getting some much-needed oomph from nightlife veterans Susan Buckley and the legendary Stuart ‘Mr Black’ Black.
With 14,000 square feet and sporting new amped-up sound and lighting systems, it’s the city’s only all-gay mega club and custom-made for serious dancing and partying. Weekends is primetime with go-go boys and pecs strutting everywhere but come calling any night of the week. Each day features a different party, cabaret or live act, and there’s also the Rosebud lounge bar in the front area for a more intimate moment.
