Gordon Ramsay may also be able to cause a little consternation among Republican soccer mums, but the ‘anything goes’ vibe at Michael “Mistress Formika” Jones’s weekly party is genuine rather than a deliberate PR ploy; apart from the name, this party at Rebel has thankfully very little in common with the foul-mouthed Brit’s food show.
People are encouraged to dress up and more than a few camera whores take heed, competing for your attention with Amanda Lepore, the go-gos, and stage acts that vary weekly from fierce-look competitions to glamour puss drags and porn stars showing off their junk. The crowd – anything from club kids and nightlife veterans to Hell’s Kitty preppies and alcoholic fag hags – is there to entertain and to be entertained across the three floors, so interpret the “F” any way you want, as long as it’s not ‘frumpy’.
