Update November 2010: All good things come to an end. The last Big Top @ Carnival took place on November 24 - but may return in February 2011.
“Only in New York” is one of those phrases that are way over-used, but Amanda Lepore and Kenny Kenny’s Wednesday party is one of the reasons that it still carries any weight.
A chance to hobnob with the famous tranny may no longer be unique (just where isn’t Amanda these days?) but the freakish hosts, circus-themed acts, and amusement park-y setting actually manage to make her outlandish features seem quite befitting, normal almost, which is no mean feat.
Model types preen and pose, cutesy boys have dressed up for the occasion and fashion-y old-timers size them up and recall better days. The point? Well, to have fun, and here you’ll find it a-plenty, so brighten up a school night and remind yourself what NYC is all about.
