THE EAGLE

The original Eagle closed in 2000, along with all the other West Side leather bars of previous eras. Despite the area’s extensive gentrification and a Bridge and Tunnel club scene near by, the bird’s most recent incarnation gives leather-daddies, and those bears and cubs who love them, a place for a rough and tumble good time. The two-storey club feels like the original with unfinished concrete, chain-link fences and dark lighting. A roof deck bar, pleasant enough for a drink in summer even if you aren’t into hairy daddies, hosts the popular Beer Blast Sundays during the warmer months with hotdogs and $2 beers. No drama. No queens. Just men.
