Described as a bar for gay men and women and their straight friends, Metropolitan is by far the best gay bar in Billyburg. You can actually hold them to their word, as this place is one big happy neighborhood mix. This laid-back locale features a long snake-like bar, a huge backyard space for hosting barbecues during the summer, and working fireplaces in the winter. Sunday brunch here features free Lucky Charms cereal to go with that Bloody Mary. Wednesdays, take the L-train for the L-Word ‘cause it’s lesbian night.
