JOHN VARVATOS

Red church candles and walls plastered in old show posters and black and white photos of rock gods decorate the interiors of the new John Varvatos store, also formally known as the punk rock mecca CBGBs. The interiors have a dark and almost dangerous feel (perhaps in homage to the space’s gritty punk history) giving it a totally different vibe than his Spring Street store. However, from Mr. Varvatos’ point of view, he probably couldn’t find a more perfect location than this to sell his luxury, rock and vintage inspired collections, often modeled by the likes of Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper in ad campaigns. You’ll also find seventies stereo equipment, vintage band tees from What Goes Around Comes Around, and electric guitars amongst the clothes here, letting you play at being a real rock star for the day, even if you don’t fancy the skin-tight leathers for real.
