COLONIAL HOUSE INN

Thirty years ago, financial backer of the famous Paradise Garage, Mel Cheren, donated this 1850’s brownstone to the then struggling organization Gay Men’s Health Crisis. When the organization outgrew the space, Cheren re-opened the building as a Bed & Breakfast with 20 cozy rooms for (mostly male) guests passing through Chelsea. This conveniently located guesthouse (steps away from the boy bars on Eighth Avenue) features several rooms with a fireplace (and more with private baths) great for the cold winter months, and a clothing optional sun deck during the Summer – so go light on the huge breakfast spread that includes bagels, English muffins, coffee, juice, fruit and hard-boiled eggs.
