Originally built as a private home back in the 1850s, when 14th Street was considered “uptown”, this 26 room guesthouse is five storeys of kitsch but cozy “Golden Age of Hollywood” packed into a walk-up row house. Its rather alluring past also saw it act as a home base to sailors in the Navy but now the only sailors it sees are from the occasional guest getting lucky during Fleet Week. Although no longer the most glamorous block around, a clean standard room with a private bath and Rita Hayworth poster can be yours from $175 a night.
