Each of the Kimpton brand of hotels comes with its own unique story – this one based around the building’s former occupation as a printing press, hence the idea of ink and ‘making your mark’. Interesting perhaps, but don’t feel you need to create a fuss to enjoy the warm welcome extended at this Midtown boutique shack, which includes a ‘Raid the Mini-Bar’ giftcard and free wi-fi if you join their ‘Frequent Flyer’ programme. Larger than your average shoebox-sized NYC accommodation, the rooms come with all of the usual mod-cons, L’Occitane amenities in the bathrooms and signature animal print robes. You’ll get warm cookies and hot chocolate in the lobby come afternoon, a wine reception in the evening, with the odd game of Wii set up for the restless. Eat in Print, the lobby restaurant, or check out Press, the glass-enclosed rooftop bar and lounge, complete with outdoor seating and decorative pool – if that doesn’t make a mark, we don’t know what will.
