Its pay-what-you-can admissions policy has made The Met a perennial student favourite, but even at the suggested yuppie food stamp donation ($20), it’d be a bargain for access to one of the largest and most eclectic cultural institutions on the planet. “Encyclopedic” is perhaps the word that best describes the museum’s collection, which contains works from every part of the world from the Stone Age to the 20th Century. If you have time for only one visit, don’t miss the Egyptian Art gallery, the Greek & Roman sculptures or the Costume Exhibit.
