Cheap, fast and convenient to get you into Penn Station located by 32nd Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenue. Get on the AirTrain from any terminal to Jamaica Station and get on any train into Manhattan. Total journey time approximately 40-60 minutes to Penn Station including transferss. From Manhattan to the airport, all LIRR trains from Penn Station stop at Jamaica where you catch the AirTrain to your terminal.

The budget option, but relatively fast and painless if you’re travelling light and going near a subway station on the A, E, J or Z lines. Take the AirTrain from any terminal to the Howard Beach Station for the A train or to Jamaica Station for the E, J, Z trains. Total journey time approximately 60-80 minutes to and from Manhattan.

Worth it only if you’re travelling by yourself and not in a hurry. The SuperShuttle (and other shuttle services) will pool you with other travelers to and from the airport. Follow the signs to the Ground Transportation Desk after having cleared customs and arrange for your ride using the courtesy phone or by asking an agent at the desk. Shuttles leave every 15-30 minutes, then there’s a journey time of 60-120 minutes depending on whether you’re the first or last drop-off. Going to the airport, call and arrange for pick-up time (you’ll be given a 15 minute time window).

A yellow cab may be the default option, but be aware that a car service is more comfortable and is competitively priced if you book in advance. Although licensed for four passengers, more than three is a squeeze. Taxis operate with a USD 45 flat fare rate plus tolls and tips to and from Manhattan (meter will be applied after the first drop-off if you make several stops).
