There’s nothing like a good illusion – after all, David Copperfield didn’t get Claudia Schiffer into bed on his looks alone now, did he. Which is a great part of the appeal here, where the setting isn’t all it seems to be, and the food is a constant surprise. Hidden away in the warehouse-like surrounds of an Asian antique store, you’ll have to knock and wait to be admitted. Once inside, surrounded by Vietnamese beds, life size Buddhas and ancient treasures, try out Jaime Renedo and his colleague Takashi’s intriguing little courses, which come as a set menu of ten and vary from olive and parmesan biscuits masquerading as Oreos and a postmodernist take on the Rice Krispie bar, to Foie Gras Cuba Libre, made with rum and coke.
